Social Alternatives – Call for Short Stories

Social Alternatives, an independent, not-for-profit quarterly refereed journal, is calling for short story contributions to its forthcoming issues in 2011.

While Social Alternatives is primarily a scholarly journal, publishing articles and commentary, the collective firmly recognises the ability for literature to comment on a range of social issues and act as a vehicle for social change. Fiction is by definition transformative, allowing us to reveal and re-imagine ourselves.

Although submissions which do not align with forthcoming issue topics will be considered for publication, preference will be given to submissions which in some way connect with each issue’s thematic focus. Accepted word count: 500–2500 words.

Forthcoming issues:

-        ‘Shifting Cultures’

-        ‘Democracy: Challenging Contemporary Perspectives and Identifying Problems’

-        ‘Alternatives in Education’
