Island Magazine: editor's position

CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST: ISLAND MAGAZINE

POSITION: EMERGING EDITOR

Island is looking for a dynamic person interested in taking up the newly created position of emerging editor. The position is part-time (8 hours per week @ $25 per hour), based in Sandy Bay, Tasmania. It provides an opportunity for mentoring with both the editor of Islandand members of the Society of Editors (Tas).

The emerging editor would be responsible for creating a new online site dedicated to the work of emerging writers and visual artists. Island has an existing website at http://www.islandmag.com. This new initiative would develop out of that site. Each quarter it would feature a selection of poetry, non-fiction and short fiction by Australia’s top emerging writers. Each issue would also feature the work of an emerging visual artist.

 

 

The successful applicant would have some, or all, of the following:

·     Experience with, and a passion for, writing

 

·     A keen interest in pursuing a career as an editor

 

·     Experience working in an online environment

 

·     Capacity for organisation and ability to work with deadlines

 

·     An interest in contemporary visual arts

 

 

 

There is no provision for travel or costs of removal; these would have to be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
